Workshop

Bob adjusting the brakes on his Turner DHR II at Bob's Bikes

Bob's been fixing bikes in Albany for over twenty-five years, the last thirteen in his own store. We specialise in mountain bikes, BMX, dirt jumpers and e-bikes, and we look after road, gravel, commuter and kids bikes too.

In the workshop, that means suspension servicing, hydraulic brakes, e-bike diagnostics, drivetrain overhauls, custom wheel builds and full custom bike builds.

E-bikes

We service e-bikes with Bosch, Shimano, Brose, Specialized, Fazua and Avinox drive systems — diagnostics, firmware, drivetrain and the mechanical work that goes with them.

What we work on

Quality bikes from brands sold through bike shops — the ones with Australian parts support, warranty and manufacturer backing. That means we can diagnose problems properly and get the right parts.

What we don't

Department store bikes, direct-to-consumer or unbranded e-bikes, conversion kits and electric scooters. Here's why:

  • Fire risk. Uncertified e-bike batteries and chargers can catch fire, and we won't have that risk in our workshop.
  • Cheap parts. Many of these bikes are built with low-quality parts that can't be adjusted to work properly, no matter how much time we spend on them.
  • No product support through our dealer network. That means no warranty backing and often no replacement parts.

Not sure whether your bike qualifies? Email us a photo of the brand and model at bobsbikes@westnet.com.au and we'll tell you honestly.

Custom builds and wheels

Wheels built by hand, tensioned and stress-relieved properly. Complete builds from the frame up — tell us how you ride and what you want out of it, and we'll spec it, build it and set it up for you.

How to book

  1. Go to our Book a Service page.
  2. Choose your service. Tap the ? next to any service to see exactly what's included. Not sure what your bike needs? Choose Quote to Repair — the $60 comes off the repair if you go ahead.
  3. Pick a drop-off date and add any notes about your bike.
  4. Drop your bike off on your booking day. We'll let you know when it's ready.

Our workshop is busy and often books out well ahead, so it pays to book early — especially before summer.
